The Big 5
5 years. 5 passions. 5 reasons we’re not for everyone. And why that’s a damn good thing.
Noise Studio began in the fall of 2018, with three people sitting around a fire in a cabin in remote Norway. Today, we’re a global creative agency and a team of 13. At the turn of our 5th birthday, we brainstormed on how to celebrate as a team and decided to design a bunch of crazy 5’s to beam at our achievement of building a studio that celebrates the crazy over the conventional, the mad over the mundane and the silly over the serious.
Reason #1: We do things our way. We strive to challenge the industry by doing things differently. We push the edges of creativity, we worship unconventional ideas and we advocate for a little bit of rebellion.
Reason #2: We’re inspired by constant movement. We are skiers, surfers, hikers, tree huggers, wave lovers, runners and adventurers. The planet and our playgrounds are our everyday inspiration. Therefore, we partner with people and organisations that aim to take care of our planet and inspire us to do and be better.
Reason #3: We embrace chaos. Rebellious, Raw, Curious and Passionate. We thrive on rewriting the rulebook, and we gravitate toward those who dare to do things differently. We cut, overlay, blend, play, mix. We’re here to shatter limits, reshape conventions, and elevate design and strategy into uncharted territories.
Reason #4: We aim to surprise. We believe one has to be able to think the unthinkable in order to disrupt. We prefer diving into the unknown rather than sticking to what’s familiar or comfortable. We explore, play and improvise. That’s where stuff really gets interesting.
Reason #5: We think in ways that others don’t. Our team is from all over the world, and based wherever they’re happiest. From the French Swiss Alps to Buenos Aires, and everywhere in between, we believe our different viewpoints make us stronger. We live, and then we work, with a great amount of passion — and it should never have to be any other way.
It’s a big deal.
Five years is a pretty big deal and a long time in this industry. We’re not saying that to brag (… ok, maybe just a little). No, we’re saying it because when we started out we didn’t have a 5-year plan. We didn’t have a plan, period. We knew what we didn’t want to be (big, corporate, boring). And we knew we never wanted to miss good surf because of office hours.
If we had to say what our ‘5-year plan’ was, it might have been something along the lines of ‘make crazy designs, work with nice people and be kind’. And we’re doing just that. It turns out that not having a plan worked for us.
Today our team is from all over the world, and based wherever they’re happiest. From the French Swiss Alps to Buenos Aires, and everywhere in between, we believe our different viewpoints make us stronger. We’ve had the privilege to work with some seriously epic names in the realms of climate, sports, and the great outdoors. We’re incredibly grateful for that. We’re busy. But most importantly, we’re happy.
